Artist's Comments

I wasnt able to paint on the charcoal version like I wanted, because when I printed it out the paper was so absorbent that it botched the print job. Sooo this is painted in PS. I still like how it turned out, but I wish I could have used Gouache instead...

I have this under Traditional Drawing still because I feel the majority of this piece is the drawing and not the digital painting.

Art will remain the most astonishing activity of mankind born out of struggle between wisdom and madness, between dream and reality in our mind.

I think this worked perfectly with PS. The colours are so rich and the charcoal gives the piece more than enough of texture.

Great job...loving all the new work. Um one suggestion for painting ontop of a drawing or printout: try varnishing the drawing with a spray varnish or shellac....it will seal the work and allow you to work on top of it. This will dramatically change the texture and absorbency etc. of the surface but you can always sand it. Oh and Marshall's Color Spray is great....its a clear spray that will give texture to any surface to allow you to paint on it.

Ive tried spray fixatives before, but then when I want to use water-based paint it beads up instead of soaking in...

I enjoy both versions quite much. The original charcoal image was beautiful, and this one gives a darker sensation with your use of color.

I'd have something profound to add, but I'm busy having my lactose free milk and eating my cake, too.
